As the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) are a natural phenomenon, your chances of seeing them depend highly on weather conditions.

What others are saying

This tour group did a phenomenal job in terms of communication to the tourists booking this tour. I highly recommend booking your first night if seeing the northern lights is something you feel you cannot leave Iceland until you see. I booked my first night and unfortunately did not see anything even though different locations were tried and the weather was tracked. Mother nature has its own agenda. However, the tour group was very easy to connect with and discuss booking a different night of your choosing free of charge. Second time around was my last night in Iceland and I got to experience what I came here for and it did not disappoint.

Very informative guide and really fun evening tracking the lights. They are a natural phenomenon so it’s always a lottery. We did see some amazing sights as well as just the night sky was stunning.

Our tour guide was called Swan- a friendly and enthusiastic guy, he was very knowledgeable as he explained and spoke about the northern lights while we were en route out of the city to a dark location on the side of a mountain. Coach was comfortable and there was a stop at a service station for toilets / conveniences. The coach stopped 3 times in dark places where we got out looking for the lights. We were lucky as it was a clear night and there were more stars than I have ever seen in my life. We caught a glimpse of the lights. As a natural phenomenon there are no guarantees but the tour guide could not be faulted for his efforts and enthusiasm. I would recommend to wrap up in layers and keep an open mind. Wonderful experience with or without the appearance of the lights, however, great to see a glimpse, best of all for those who get a full show!
