Stunning Northern Lights Above Lake Þingvallavatn
This image was taken during an appearance of the famed Northern Lights in Iceland. The lights become visible each year in fall, winter and spring – so if you visit during those seasons, you might be lucky enough to see the magnificent Aurora Borealis dancing above you.
Þingvallavatn Lake is part of the historic Þingvellir National Park, where the world’s first parliament was formed in 930 AD.
It’s also where the American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet – so it’s a place packed with history and natural wonders.
