What will I experience on this tour?

On the Snæfellsnes Peninsula Small Group Tour, you’ll get to explore the stunning landscapes that inspired Jules Verne’s book “Journey to the Center of the Earth” in a premium minibus.

A smaller group size (max. 17 people) will allow you to fully soak in the atmosphere of all the amazing landscapes you’ll visit.

In the morning after pickup in the minibus, we’ll head from Reykjavík to Snæfellsnes peninsula along Iceland’s west coast.

Iceland’s famed landscapes of “ice and fire” are well covered on this minibus tour. You’ll witness the black sand beach and lava fields at Djúpalónssandur and the fascinating basalt cliffs of Arnarstapi, with their twisted shapes.

You’ll even experience the ultimate union of fire and ice – the magnificent Snæfellsjökull glacier, which is in fact the cap of a stratovolcano!

Speaking of ice and fire, you’ll also visit the imposing mountain Kirkjufell, which brought the filming of famous show Game of Thrones to Iceland.

Throughout the day your local guide will be on hand to share their passion for these amazing places.

And for a break between the action, the Snæfellsnes Peninsula Minibus Tour includes stops at the charming fishing village of Arnarstapi and Ytri Tunga beach, one of the few golden-sand beaches in Iceland!

What’s included?

What should I bring?

For your comfort: Dress to be ready for any weather! The weather in Iceland can be changeable, so it’s important to wear/bring warm, waterproof clothes, especially in winter. We recommend a waterproof jacket and pants, hat and gloves, warm socks and waterproof shoes.

What others are saying

This was the best of four tours I did in Iceland with four different tour operators. Did it on August 24. The guide Howser was wonderful. Knowledgeable and fun. He made our day.

I took part to the Snaefellsnes Premium Tour on September 14th. The pick-up time at my hostel was just on time. Since I booked the “Premium” experience, the bus was smaller and more comfortable than the normal tourist coaches. In addition, the Premium experience gives the opportunity not only to experience better the single sights, thanks to the availability of more time, but also to have extra stops all along the itinerary, which is impossible to do for bigger group of tourists. The bus driver was also our guide for the day. He was extremely nice and knowledgeable and told the group a great amount of information about the history, the fauna and the geology of Iceland. The places we visited are gorgeous. The small fishermen’s villages, the fermented shark factory and museum (one of my favorite highlights of this tour), the “Church Mountain”, the crater of an old volcano, the seal shore, where we had the chance to see two seals playing with each other, and much more.
The Snaefellsnes peninsula is one of the most beautiful and unique areas of Iceland and BusTravel is a great and trustworthy company.
To sum up, the Snaefellsnes Peninsula Premium Tour is extremely recommended and worth every penny of its affordable cost.

During my trip to Iceland I did two tours with BusTravel Iceland (Golden Circle Premium and Snaefellsnes Peninsula) and had a wonderful time. The tours are well organized and offer just the right balance between sightseeing and rest stops – it was very relaxed and I enjoyed the beautiful scenery immensely. The guides for both tours (Torfi for Golden Circle and Simon for Snaefellsnes) were simply amazing – very knowledgeable, friendly and entertaining. Great experience and highly recommended!
