What will I experience on this tour?
Your Classic Golden Circle Tour will start out with a convenient pickup from Reykjavík in a 1st class coach or minibus.
Your experienced guide will be on hand to enrich your day with fun facts and fascinating stories in the language you selected.
As we head out of town, you’ll see the unique volcanic landscapes of the Golden Circle route begin to emerge.
Our first stop will be the historic Þingvellir National Park (also spelled Thingvellir).
This UNESCO World Heritage site combines fascinating aspects of Thingvellir’s history and geology, from the thrilling to the gruesome!
You’ll walk on the very ground where Iceland’s democratic parliament began almost 1000 years ago. (You might also see some of the sites where Viking era justice was carried out – yikes!)
You’ll also get to enjoy the park’s stunning scenery, with steep cliffs, rolling fields and the picturesque Thingvellir lake.
This amazing landscape was molded by the geological activity of the earth – two tectonic plates collide deep beneath the earth of Þingvellir.
Continuing your “golden tour,” you’ll pay a visit to Gullfoss Waterfall – the Golden Falls. This is one of the most famous waterfalls in Iceland thanks to its majestic vistas.
The glacial waters of the river Hvítá crash down 32 meters into a deep canyon, creating magical clouds of spray.
On a sunny day, you may be lucky enough to witness the Gullfoss Falls glowing with a lovely golden color, with rainbows rising from the mist.
A camera and a raincoat are both highly recommended!
Next up, you will experience the bubbling, steaming mud pools at the Geysir geothermal springs.
Does the name Geysir sound familiar?
That’s because the Great Geysir at this amazing landmark is the origin of the word “geyser” in English!
Geysir itself is now dormant, but you can see the neighboring Strokkur geyser at the hot springs erupt every few minutes.
Its impressive columns of hot water rush up 20 meters into the air.
Finally we will return from Geysir to Reykjavík, passing by lake Laugarvatn on our return journey.

One of the better trips we went on. Learned a lot about Iceland and its history. Guide was very knowledgeable and funny at the same time. Company who did the trip knows what they are doing. Would go with them again. Very enjoyable.

The views of the golden circle were great! First we met our guide called Roman who chatted with us throughout the whole trip, providing entertainment and excellent knowledge making the experience a treasure. We went to the place where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates touched which provided many great landscape views.
Next we went to the waterfall which was amazing. It was good enough to rival the Niagara falls, one person said on the board. Also our guide successfully showed us the best photo spot. This is a truly beautiful waterfall.
Lastly we went to the geyser which was great. Our guide showed us the best photo spot and we all got amazing photos of it bubbling and rising explosively into the air. It was great!
